Behavioral Health or Corrections

Quote from Nurse Community Member on October 9, 2020, 12:46 pmI have worked in BH for going on 15 years. Can’t say that I’ve ever had a boring day. You need to have an upbeat personality as you are dealing with depression and anxiety every minute. There have been some scary moments, but we have extra training to deal with physical threats successfully as a team and security guards on site who usually respond quickly. Friends who work in corrections say they are always accompanied by a guard and most inmates are on their best behavior since the med bay is a pleasant oasis

Quote from Nurse Community Member on October 14, 2020, 10:10 pmWorked in acute care psych hospital for 11 years. Psych hospitals save lives!! Learning all the medications and how they work, understanding diagnosis and providing care for patients in acute distress is challenging and VERY fulfillling. It requires excellent communication skills and ability to tolerate extreme distres. Really great job. Many jobs can be med/psych if you are interested
