The RN will perform a patient assessment prior to exercise not limited to
evaluation of heart sounds, breath sounds, blood pressure, checking
extremities for edema and updating medication list. The RN will assist
patients with exercise programs; obtain exercise blood pressure and SpO2. Keep
pt’s medication list updated. Review ECG’s each session. Notify referring
physician of any changes in medical status. Recognizes ECG’s and has knowledge
of appropriate treatment, basic computer knowledge, has basic knowledge of
principles of exercise preferred and ability to use appropriate discretion in
handling confidential material and information. Ability to read, write, speak,
understand and communicate effectively in English.
Reports to Director of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation & CPET Testing
* Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
* Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Texas
* BCLS and ACLS
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire.
New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR,
ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the

There is an occasional risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact
with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed
during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed and
protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely
to cause exposure.
