How do I keep up with the amount of CEUs I need for my license?

October 3rd, 2021

I would suggest doing some every month: divide how many you need into the two year renewal period and doing 1/2 to 3/4 in the first year and the last 1/2 to 1/4 in the first half of the second year. This leaves you time at the end to catch up with what you might have gotten behind on. Remember that as you obtain certifications, you will have more contact hours to do.
If you are taking college courses for an advanced degree, the courses can be used towards contact hours if you have a certification. I have a certification that requires 150 contact hours per 5yr renewal period—way more than the 15 required for my nursing license so I spread them out and do them every month.

Usually your job will have a data base of CEUs that you can pick from to do for free. I know for myself as well as a lot of nurses I’ve worked with, we usually just do them right before our licenses renewal is do. They only require 20 CEU’s usually so it’s not to hard to knock them out in a few hours.
