14 yes as an RN. I was PACU at a level 2 for 6 yrs. Then ambulatory surgery PACU (only plastics and cataracts recovery) for the last 2.5 yrs. Would I be able to take a travel assignment to a PACU now and feel comfortable? or even get a contract?

Yes you should be able to take a travel job once you know the basic knowledge in PACU, and you continue to learn on the job, Rome was not built in a day

Definitely you can, just be humble and willing to learn. ALL hospitals are different. I’ve been a trauma ICU nurse for 10 years, 4 years traveling, everywhere I have been has been different. Don’t act like you know everything and be willing to learn. Be confident, not cocky. Be friendly, kind, humble, don’t get offended when they try or offer help either. Expect to be checked on, such as charting, meds, etc.

Unless it is in a surgery center, the hospitals want the experience. You need more of this. You need to be able to learn how to care for the Phase 1 patients that have had general anesthesia and also the ICU and Cath lab patients. The hospitals are paying good money to travel nurses and expect the nurse to be able to care for all patients in the PACU including pediatrics. I was a travel nurse for 10 years.
