I am an L&D nurse with 10 years experience trying to get a travel job for the first time. I feel like this process is taking forever and the recruiters are not as responsive as I would like. I’m frustrated. Is it normal to wait so long?

Apply to as many different companies as you can and don't forget to include local agencies that staff in cities near you. My advice is that if you don't hear from them within 1 week, move on. The agencies, if they are serious will call you in a matter of days or if you call them, ask to speak to a recruiter. A good recruiter will call you back the same day or the next day. If they don't move on, this is a red flag that they will not be supporting you as a travel nurse. I was a travel nurse for 10 years and loved it. I miss it sometimes and hope to be able to go back.

Most recruiters I have worked with are the total opposite- calling me 3-5 times a day. If you aren’t getting the response you want, try a different recruiter and let them know upfront that you are expecting a faster process. There are tons of travel nurse companies, so you have tons of options to choose from. Make them work for you.
