I work as a RN in interventional radiology and it’s the best job ever!!!! We kill tumors all different kinds of ways. We essentially do the sedation for procedures. Lots of cancer pts need ports tubes etc….we treat trauma pts, cancer pts with different procedures. G tube insertions. Dialysis Cather insertions, abscess drain placements, paracentesis chest tube insertions. We embolize tumors with radiation and chemo….. the most exciting is when someone comes in paralyzed on one side of body with stroke and Neuro Dr does thrombectomy and 10 min later they are talking and moving again!!!!!

I've never worked in radiology, however, if this is something you're interested in, try calling the department manager and asking if it would be possible for you to "shadow" for a day or so to see what the job entails and be able to ask questions. It could convince you that this is definitely something you'd want to pursue, or not.
