I recently started nursing school, is there a place I can go to find nurse mentors?

I would recommend joining a professional organisation. I knew I wanted to be an ICU nurse, so I joined AACN. I attended a few of the informal meetings for the AACN chapter in my city, and making those connections landed me my first nursing job.

Look up Nurse PACT. It is an organization that pairs up new nurses with mentors.

Some schools have mentorship programs. They’ll ask alumni staff to sign up and be a mentor to the new nursing students. I’d ask your school if they have that and if not maybe that could be something you could have them look in to. It’s a great way for alumni to give back and you can make connections with nurses in the community and maybe possibly land a job in the future.

Once you begin clinical training at the local hospitals; you will find plenty of experienced nurses. You’ll just need to find the ones that thrive from the teaching experience. I didn’t find mine until I had my preceptor in the emergency department.
