What would be the best advice to a NP without any NP experience trying to find a job? I've been a nurse for 10 years and graduated with my FNP in 2020. It was hard finding a job during the pandemic.

Was it one of those programs that took you straight through from your already obtained science related BS degree without nursing experience? Did you have prior nursing appointment today experience? What about with the facilities that you did your clinical s? Most BS science degree to NP programs , IMHO, don’t give you a depth of nursing experience that hinders one from getting a job. Those I’ve met in those type of programs are just wanting to go the political route of an advocate for nursing in Washington. They want to be a part of policy making and lobbying. You may have to gain some nursing experience, if you didn’t have any before, to work into a NO position.

We need providers in Sonora. It is a mountain community with many outdoor activities, if that is an interest for you. Our mid-level in the ED work alongside the Drs. We have a supportive staff that works together to provide the best care possible. You would have plenty of staff to ask questions to if needed.

Sometimes you need to go to rural areas. They are usually in need of medical professionals. It gets you in the door to build on your skills and gets you experience that the larger places require. Its not always easy getting into rural medicine and can be a cultural shock. And other times, its something people fall in love with and stay. Good luck with your new adventure!
