What are some different nursing units/departments? I'm looking at my options for preceptorship.

Med surg, Step down, pediatrics, OR, ICU, ED, psych are very general. Some hospitals may have specialized departments (ie. CV ICU, med surg ICU, cardiac unit, ortho unit, oncology, hematology, etc)

NICU... neonatal intensive care unit.

Med/Surg (Renal, Oncology, Pediatrics, Neurology, Orthopedic). These are some examples of different subcategories of Med/Surg)

Emergency Department

PACU-post anesthesia care unit

ICU which can also have different subcategories
Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Pediatric ICU

Labor and Delivery

Postpartum

Inpatient Rehab

Long Term Acute Care
