Do you call someone with a DNP doctor?

December 3rd, 2022

Though this is proper, there are certain states that forbid NPs by going by Doctor. Some say they can use doctor but immediately have to clarify they are a NP.

“Hi, I am Dr.Piranio, I am a nurse practitioner on your medical team”

Some states forbid NPs using the title Doctor under any circumstances. Doctor is an academic title, not profession, and I do not agree with this legislation.
