Does anyone have their Clinical Nurse Leader certification? If so, how do you use it in practice?
Clinical Nurse Leader is a MSN prepared nurse program and unless the standards have been lowered; completing the program or being in the final semester is the only way to sit for the exam. I actually completed the course work in 2014. The role of the CNL is to help drive outcomes of a cohort of patients on a unit or units of like health issues. They are not in a formal leadership role or counted as part of the staff that carry a patient load. Think of the CNL as UR and CM rolled up into one and dedicated to your floor. Looking at the data and working with the IDT to improve outcomes by providing EBP to encourage practice change and pointing out trends (positive or negative).
you can usually get it through your State or Province Board of Nursing organization and you have to register your updated information that is newer current or update your previous file of a transfer
