I am currently working as a nurse manager in a behavioral health unit. Will be relocating to California and would like to go back to working at the bedside. Is it hard to get a job?

If you’re looking for behavioral health still then the best options are Southern California, especially if you want inpatient. Inpatient psych beds are few and far between in Northern California. The farthest north I ever worked was Bakersfield, and they used to get patients from Sacramento because there weren’t beds closer.

I live in California and the market is hot. If you want to stay in behavioral health, you won’t have any trouble getting a job. I’m sure they’d appreciate someone with management experience wanting to return to the bedside. Good luck!! I think you’ll love it here!!

It all depends. You have experienced so that will make it a little easier for you. I just moved to Southern California and I have been having a hard time getting interviews for jobs. It can be that I don’t have any bedside experience and all of my experience has been working during the pandemic. All I would say is apply early, start to process early. This way when you do get here you’ll be in a good position.
