How to I get information about the current hiring climate at my local hosptial? They aren’t requiring any experience or advanced certificates for jobs that 5 years ago would have had extensive requirements and preferred experience.

Hospitals are in desperate situations. The climate is hostile. It really depends on your personal training and confidence. The more money they pay the less help you will get. Floor nurses can roam around the floor asking for help, this lends to better care and could be easier. Developing relationships with other co-workers can be helpful.
If you work in an Operating Room, Radiology, cath lab you are on your own. PACU Nurses might have to juggle more than one patient and pre-op areas be prepared to run. Remember if a Hospital is paying big bucks they want high performance. If you are negotiating your own contracts or have a recruiter helping you it’s best to get a referral from other Nurses that use those companies. Recruiting companies that are large have no time to guide you. It’s all about the money. I’ve fired my fair share. Good luck, oh!!! Vaccine mandates are illegal. Best to know how to stand up for yourself.

There is a shortage and the nurses with that experience a d certificates are not wanting these jobs. They may pay for those certificates and you will definitely get experience. I don’t think they will just throw you into the job it you will need to be a fast learner.
