To nurses here who are in a leadership position I have a question: Why is it that a Chief Nursing Officer is able to override a Dr's orders for blood cultures?

I believe that it has to do with legality and risk management. Chief nursing officer ranks higher than an MD because she is sort of like a CEO or CFO. I assume she is ordering him to do the cultures?. There must be a problem with this doctor if the CNO is involved.
