I have been a nurse for almost five years. I've worked in wound care and ER. I'm looking for a new position. Any advice on how to pick a new area?

Hi there. Nursing education is a very rewarding role. It provides a change of pace from patient care and allows the educator to assist the next generation of nurses. Depending on your specialty/background, you can have a variety of opportunities including didactic, skills lab, clinical, and simulation to name a few. You can also remain in patient care and teach part-time.

My advice to you will be to try ICU since you have the ER experience.

If you like fast-paced nursing, ICU could be a good fit. I think your best bet is figure out what you liked and didn't like about your previous positions and write them down. Are you tired of being in the hospital? If you liked wound care, home health might be a possibility as well. Do you like teaching?
