What companies in VA are willing to train you if want to be an infusion nurse. I have 7 months of Med/Surg experience but it doesn't seem like enough when I'm applying to jobs and I dread going back to Med/Surg for more IV experience. Please advise.

Infusion nursing also requires you to know what to do in the event of a bad reaction-Depending on the type of infusions. And with some infusions, need to be certified.

Try to apply to a home infusion agency. That way, you’ll get the experience without the pressure of the hospital setting. You’ll have to know your basics, but it’s not so intense.

Not in VA, but started my career in MD in a mixed unit. I asked my manager to take ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy class and they were supportive, and then it opened the doors to Oncology. My next job, started training on Ultrasound placed IVs and today, I’m an outpatient infusion RN. My dream is to do VAT, but I do love what I do. I place IVs all day, access central lines. The doors of opportunity for me started after taking and getting my bio/chemo card.
