How do you handle a situation where a pulse oximeter keeps giving inconsistent readings?

Try changing hands, if it still happens, try the earlobe. You could also do the forehead. Some people with cold hands or bad circulation will do this. First thing to do though is change the pulse ox sticker. If you have access to neonate oximeter bandaid type stickers, those do real well on earlobes. Then, is it a female wearing nail polish? There is always the chance it could be the box. Hope these help some.
