I may need to get a new job Currently I work PACU, but the call is wearing me out big time. I’d be looking for something more flexible since my husband is a pastor. And I’d like to try working outside the hospital. Any suggestions?
Hi, why not try taking care of adults or children at home on vents. It pays ok. I got to really liking a quad girl and a surprisingly happy scoliosis girl with a normal brain. The hospital wanted to make her hospice but she did very well at home. Just a thought. Delores S.
Flexible as far as hours? There’s working part time/per diem. Plenty of outpatient options (eg clinic, infusion centers, remote work).
Outpatient Dialysis is a good place to work. It is different from other nursing, you get attached to the patients. No call, no Sundays. All clinics are different some have 3 patient shifts so hours are longer and some have 2 shifts. You should check into it!
I have worked in radiology but in an out patient imaging center and it’s very rewarding. The hours are days 8-5 kind of job that may be better suited to your lifestyle. Hospitals will wear you out that’s for sure. But give you a great foundation and necessary to handle working on your own in an out pt clinic. I handle a lot of emergencies on my own so it’s good you have hospital experience. Good luck in your search!
