Start low work your way up when it comes to veins. The largest vein is the AC. ER & paramedics love to put an IV in the AC!! Great for surgery and emergencies but horrible for inpatient care. The best place will depend on your patient. Practice practice & practice!! I love starting IV’s 🤫

The AC area is definitely the best spot for great veins!! I usually use an 18 or 20 gauge for IV’s and 23 gauge butterfly for lab work. Hope this helps!
