What are some good ways to prepare you for OR or PACU? I’m an ambulatory surgery nurses but want to read up on those two units for when the time comes.

My expertise is in the operating room suites the main OR and ambulatory surgery. Looking into AORN is one of the most informational areas that will assist you with perioperative career growth. I have been in the OR for over 25 years staff nurse, ANM, Robotics coordinator, Manager, focused periop 101 Perioperative Educator.

OR and PACU are totally different specialties. In an acute care hospital you won't bounce from one to the other. The only thing they have in common is on call. Being on call is a huge part of the job. If you are not prepared for the time commitment and how it will effect your lifestyle I suggest sticking with 8 and skate
