What are some good ways to prepare you for OR or PACU? I’m an ambulatory surgery nurses but want to read up on those two units for when the time comes.
The operating room is on the job training.
Ask if there is a shadow day in the OR and
follow a seasoned nurse for the day. You will get an idea of what is expected of you.
The PACU is also on the job training but the need for ICU experience is a plus

OR and PACU are totally different specialties. In an acute care hospital you won't bounce from one to the other. The only thing they have in common is on call. Being on call is a huge part of the job. If you are not prepared for the time commitment and how it will effect your lifestyle I suggest sticking with 8 and skate
