How am I able to gain experience to be able to apply to jobs in specialties, or just in general that I am wanting?

Hey! Don't know if this will help you now, but when I graduated and wanted to work in Postpartum, Mother/Baby or L&D, I went and talked to the Nurse Manager of those departments. I went every week for months. I was working on a Psych/overflow Med/Surg floor and really hated it. More because of my Preceptor though. Anyway, finally one day she told me go and talk to the charge nurse on Postpartum, Mother/Baby and if she wants to hire you, I will hire you! I did and of course she did because she was by herself! It worked out well for me, I stayed several years and ended up worked L&D after several months.
