How can an operating room nurse Transiton to an outpatient clinic setting such as plastic surgery or dermatology? I don’t have a lot of inpatient acute care experience.

Outpatient clinics will hire as long as you are willing to experience a huge shift! Outpatient nursing, while still hard and busy, is completely different! Dermatology and Plastic Surgery in my experience love OR nurses cause you have intimate procedural knowledge. Just like I said be prepared, outpatient nursing is very different. If you are interviewing and show hesitation towards the change in schedule or job duties the hiring manager may be hesitant. I’d also suggest reaching out to those clinic managers and seeing if they’d allow you to shadow for a day! This will show a lot of interest and show you if it’s what you want! Good luck!
