Help. I recently pssed my NCLEX exam last Dec 2020. But I have to renew it June 2021. since it’s my first time renewing my license, I overlooked the 30 contact hr CE. And then, I was selected for a random audit. What should I do?
Show them your transcript from school. That counts towards your CE hours for your first renewal. I was in the same boat as you and I was good.
Start completing your ceus and explain to them that you are a new nurse. Not sure how they will respond, but I don’t think it’s that serious.
Though specific requirements vary state to state, you can “buy” individual CEUs for a nominal fee ($30-40). These CE companies offer easy and quick courses endorsed by most state boards and the ANA. You may spend 24 hours completing them, but if recognized by your state BON, they are legitimate and accepted.
Go to your State BON website to see what they accept. They should also list their offering of CEUs on the website. Complete all of them!
It’s mostly reading informative articles followed by an easy evaluation of some sort. Call the board personally if necessary and have a conversation about your situation. Gather each CEU certificate you have completed.
Remember, they are not looking to keep you out of the profession, they are there to help. :)
