I am in my last semester of nursing school and all of my friends all ready have jobs lined up when they graduate, how do i get this to happen for me? i feel so lost but i don’t want to feel stupid asking. so help from a very new baby nurse
Look for a hospital with a New Grad Residency Program! This type of program will help set you up for success and get you lined up for a position. Most accept applications during your last semester.
Not having a job before graduating doesn’t mean you won’t find one. We are all on our own journey. I chose to focus on and pass the NCLEX before even applying. I would say first don’t worry. If you are currently in a clinical rotation you like, talk to the nurse manager there. Does your school offer any resources? And don’t let anyone tell you that you should be in med/surg. Go for what you want, and don’t judge your success by what others do.
I received my first job offer by filling out an oline application and then calling the HR department to let them know that I very interested in the position. Before the interview, I did my research on the facility and was prepared to answer all of their questions. Good luck in your job search.
