Is it difficult in becoming a research nurse? Any advice from RNs in research? I'm finding it difficult to enter that niche.

I started as a research nurse with the VA and then progressed to private clinical research of new medications. I did that for 35 years across a spectrum of indications. Give the VA a try if you have one near you or if there is a clinical research site near you apply as a coordinator. Good luck to you. I loved it.

It requires a variety of skills including demonstrated critical thinking, technical skills, extreme attention to detail, strong computer skills, etc. Educational requirements vary from institution to institution; at ours, a Masters was preferred. It also would help you to have some involvement in some aspect of research. For example, if your institution has a nursing research committee or council, membership and active participation in that might be really helpful.
