What should I do if a surgical sponge count is incorrect?

To stand out I would make sure you understand your assignment prepare mentally make sure you have everything in the room Dr. Needs so you never have to leave your room and most of all make sure you have a good rapport with surgeon and the surgical team.

Well when you count with tech and you know you're missing a sponge let the Dr. Know right away most Dr. Will stop and check before closing then others will ask you to get xray in the OR to check if sponge is inside cavity. You also check the trash and call and let you charge nurse know that your missing a sponge so she can send you help to look for it. Most of the time you will find it. 🙂
