Hello, I’m a new nurse and have been working on a med/surg unit for almost a year now. My question is how do you handle rude doctors and/or coworkers? What are some ways I could set boundaries/stand up for myself ?

If you’re not in front of a patient call them out on it right then and there. You’re still on a learning curve and in this current state with COVID 19, it’s hard on everyone, especially nurses and doctors.

Agree. Call it out but away from any patients. Sometimes you need to ask to speak privately at a later date but don’t let it go for too long. After a while, they’ll forget and won’t be able to recall what happened. It’s such a busy environment that it’s easy for everything to blend together or get blocked out completely.

Hello,
If I were you, I will speak with the nurse of course away from patients/family members. Politely discuss about her behavior toward me; express how I felt... Remember some us don't know how to separate personal issues from our professional environment.
