“ If you ever doubted yourself for one second about being a nurse, don’t- you were the only one who actually cares about my mother and actually wanted to help her and make her feel at ease while she was dying “

"You were the best nurse that I had while I was in the hospital"

I actually ran into this patient on my day off headed to a coffee shop. He was really sweet and always asked what day I was working so he could request me.

The best compliment I have received was from the family of one of my geriatric patients. The family gave a note to my nurse manager about me. It read: "She is one of a kind and we appreciate her. She always goes the extra mile and raises the bar for care at this facility".

My favorite compliments are when my patients ask me if I’m done with their shot/injection, as I’m getting ready to apply the bandaid. The best compliment was when a lovely young woman told me I had angel hands in Spanish lol made my entire day

During the Co-Vid pandemic, I was taking care of a patient who had a awful headache. She was 68 and had no family. She cried and the provider did not give her anything but a OTC/PRN medication. I called and pleaded with the provider for a onetime IV pain medication. He agreed . I used Ice, cool wash cloths. But I sat and help her hand until she got some relief from the headache. The following month i was awarded the Daisy award. The award was so special, but the words she wrote about her experience , meant so much more. I have a copy of her letter in a frame. When I have bad days on the floor, or I have a bad day with a patient, I go home and read her words and know that I helped one person and made a difference in her life.
