I am an international nurse graduate with years of experience as RN in UAE, Saudi and Philippines. I am eyeing for a PACU RN position. Please help, How can i earn a PACU experience if employers are looking for a US PACU experience?
You have experince in nursing, so consider an ambulatory surgery center (outpatient surgery). That can lead into a hospital position in a larger inpatient OR with more complicated procedures.
You stated you have years of experience, is it Critical care /ICU if so there should not be a big berrier. However, if not it will depend on how desparte the hiring place you are looking at need a nurse. Due to shortage hospital are less stringent in their hiring practices.
They just may hire you with on job training but I contend you still need Critical care ICU knowledge and experience to really handle the complete scope of working and taking care of patient with evidence base optimum care safely in the PACU. Also look for a externship that will train you both PACU with an umbrella of ICU. Hope this helps
Look for a job that will train you. At UW , we have Nurse Educators who developed training specifically for new hires with no experience. Those places are are out there.
Work in PACU, Recovery Room. Usually it’s within the OR but you’re recovering after surgery
