A hospital offered me a position with relocation assistance, as I am considering a move of over 500 miles; however, those expenses won’t be reimbursed until I reach 18 months of employment. Is this reasonable? I would obviously prefer upfront.

It is not uncommon for hospitals to make this type of contractual agreement with new hire nurses. From sign on bonuses to relocation assistance, there will be a 2 yr agreement at the least. Also, be sure you keep receipts and if at any time you receive disciplinary action, the repayment could become null, make sure to read the fine print.
