What's the creepiest or spookiest thing that has happened while working shift?

We had a visitor one night. It was around 2am and myself and two other staff members were sitting around talking about some people who had passed away. Just then, we could clearly hear the door open and someone come in and stomp what sounded like their boots on the floor as if they were trying to get the mud off. The only problem was, there was three of us sitting in that area with a clear line of sight to that door. The door never opened and no one ever came in. We looked at each other for confirmation of what we all heard and That’s when we got up turned on all of the lights and went into the office.

We had a code blue on a very busy day in surgery. I rushed down from my office on the second floor to assist with a code blue in one of my ORs on the first floor. As I was running down the stairs (fourth flights of stairs), I felt "someone" or "something" rushed pass me extremely fast and the door flung open in front of me! It stayed opened too! I paused for a second, but I couldn't process anything because I needed to help with the code blue. After the patient was revived and stable, I was tracking back to what happened - still couldn't put the puzzle together until one of my colleagues (Anesthesiologist) said, "woo, you flew right into the OR, you flew in fast! It almost looked as you were swept into the OR." So, maybe that "someone" or "something" helped me get to the OR fast. I am a believer of paranormal "things."

Had a 12yo female patient who came in seemingly catatonic/comatose, utterly non responsive to painful stimuli. All scans normal. No apparent reason for her condition. Pts family circles the bed chanting religious incantations for hours and suddenly she “wakes up”. Interacts normally with them. When pt is alone(nurse observes from door unnoticed) she has excessive pill rolling and facial tics. When family is with her and she’s awake, she seems totally appropriate. Pt continued to go in and out of “coma” and would sometimes suddenly “appear” out at the nurses desk then ask how she had gotten there. 😬

While rounding on my patients one of them had projectile vomiting and it was dark. When I turned the light on it was dark blood and the vomiting continued despite all efforts for rehydration and stabilization . Called a rapid response and the patient subsequently passed. Very scary.
