Have you ever encountered a patient who googled their symptoms and correctly diagnosed themselves proving you wrong?

I usually look at what they bring to the appointment, that they have googled before they scheduled the appointment. I tend to believe that if I look at their research part of my differential has already been done. My process is to do my job like I should, take the history including the google work then justify why I accept all or part of their findings, or refute with education on why I disagree. Back it up with Dx work as needed.

IF you make you patient a partner rather than an adversary because "I know so much more than you." you will never have those GOTCHA moments.
