If an LPN wants to work in Case Management, where do they look? What experience or certifications could they use? Presume the LPN could academically complete an ASN or BSN but can’t do the all the physical clinical hours due to disabilities.

Good evening! I know the nursing homes will use LPNs for Case Management if they are clinically competent and exceptional. That position requires the individual to make the appropriate and important decisions regarding the care of a patient! Of course, becoming an RN and getting a BSN would be advantageous!

Good Luck in your pursuits!

LPN can find case management opportunities in Home Health and Health plans. Certifications needed CPR and License. If you are in a situation where you can not lift, talk with the school there should be accommodations made for you.

Unfortunately Nursing is a hands on practice. The development of zero lift climate in the 90s did much to reduce injuries. My advice would be to meet with the nursing program director to explore their policies on zero lift.
