How is the best way to negotiate your needs and get what you want? I work PRN but I do want more hours but I need to be compensated in a way that benefits me. I don’t need tuition reimbursement- I NEED benefits that go towards existing loans.
you would probably have to work overtime and night shift. Most places consider OT after you work 40 hours, Then, you should get time and a half. It depends on the agency policy that you are working with and keep in mind, in this economy, a lot of places don't give overtime to Contract (perdiem) nurses. UN fortunately, if tuition reimbursement is not something that you need, they will not replace that benefit with a higher hourly salary. If you have your own health insurance, they will not give you a higher salary which means it's better for them because they don't have to spend money covering you with the health insurance. (when you filled out your on boarding paperwork, one of it was whether you wanted to be covered with their health insurance. IF you declined, you don't get a higher salary anyway)
