Looking to move states. Can I take a travel assignment (never have done this before) in that state? If I end up liking it will I be able to stay full time if a position is available?

A lot of travel/agency contracts will include a clause that prevents you from working directly for the facility for 6 months to a year from the end of your assignment (unless the hospital pays them to buy out your contract). I’d recommend discussing your goals with the agency recruiters before you apply for any assignments, find out if they use a non compete or place any restrictions on future employment, and ask if these would be a negotiable part of the contract. Good luck!

There are a lot of travelers at the hospital I work at in CA. I know quite a few that have signed on to a full time position. It seems a lot easier to get hired on at the hospital you are traveling at, then to get hired in the traditional way. Good luck!

Hello:
Travel assignments prevent you from working full time as it’s a conflict of interest. The travel company is in a contract with the hospital. The waiting period is usually 365 days, however some companies might approve such a request. Remember, you are the outsider, your travel company is loyal to the hospital, never forget that.
Good luck
