Advice for transitioning from adult care to pediatrics? 10 years experience in acute and home hospice...limited experience with kiddos.

The top thing to remember is that kids are not little people. They are different. Their meds are all weight based (decimal points are important!) and it’s very important to understand the growth and development of children. I was primarily an adult ICU nurse but the army requires me to work pediatric ICU too. It required strong intensive training in pediatrics and pediatric ICU. Study up on pediatric nursing and also focus on care of the families. They are stressed and require your special care too. Good luck!
