What is a reasonable hourly rate to negotiate for a prn ICU position in North Carolina with 6 years nursing experience? I also have an MSN in nursing education. Thanks!

In the Triad most hospitals have a set PRN rate, you may be looking at around $51 an hour.

$65.00 they will try to lowball and get you to work every other weekend… it’s the minimum you should ask for

Since you are working PRN and will not receive benefits, the low 40s is appropriate. I worked PRN with an ICU contract (offered in-house) and made a lot of money. It really depends on the hospital. Also, it’s amazing how hospitals like us to have all these certifications and education. It looks great for accreditation. Unfortunately, they will not compensate you for your education at the bedside— unless you are at the VA. Experience trumps. Don't be discouraged. Congratulations on your educational achievements.

I would say in the upper 30s and could be higher depending upon perctange worked. The MSN in nursing education may or not factor into bedside position.
