Thinking about getting my CEN. I do not have any ER experience, but I am wanting to start working in the ER. Would this help me in getting hired in lieu of experience? Is it worth it to get?

I have only been an ER nurse, I am currently the Nursing Professional Development Specialist in our department. I was hired without the CEN. There is a lot to cover in the CEN and having a few years of ED experience is more beneficial to prep for the test. Also, most units look for team work, committee work, collaboration with other team members, etc… Depending on your healthcare network, you will be required to have BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC. If I were you, I would get all of my CPR training completed and baby step on the CEN so not to stress you out during the transition.
