Howdy! I am starting to look into nursing jobs because I will get my license soon. Does anyone have any recommendations for how to choose a hospital? I know what department I want, just not where to go!

Howdy! "I know what department i want" Go to Michaels, Hobby Lobby and make a Dream Board. You will need Markers, Index Cards and several pictures of you as a nursing student and then Graduating. At first the board will look messy. Let's say you want to work in aTelemetry unit. Index Card or a Crafty Logo on top of your board with a picture of you're graduation TITLED: TELEMETRY ME!!! Look at the hiring positions in the hospitals you are considering. Index for each hospital. Underneath, print, then tack up all the qualifications for that job under the hospitals. Highlight the qualifications you currently have on each of the hospital hiring positions. Now, index card, for benefits: Healthcare, Dental, 401 contributions, LTD

Wow.....Cindy's answer was really long and cute.....but in my experience as a new grad in Las Vegas NV.........the first job is the most difficult to get. I applied for 4 different positions....the most each hospital will let you apply for.......in 9 different hospital......and I didnt receive a call from any of them for at least 30 days. I took the first one that would have me. Not the position I wanted.....NICU.....but WAS a specialty floor.....IMC...... and I transferred after 6 months. Get your foot in the door is the goal of a new grad. You can think of all the benefits like Cindy said, but theybare all comperable.

You can start at a local community hospital, craft your skills, and then move to a teaching hospital. And it depends on where you live?
