Any nurses wear rings at work or do you take them off?

I like to wear a silicone ring during work. There’s no way I am willing to risk losing or getting blood on my band lol.

The center diamond on mine has fallen out twice. Even though the last time it was found and my husband had it upgraded when they reset it, I will not wear it at work anymore. He bought me a necklace with a silver heart engraved with our names on back and a cross. I have never taken it off since he gave it to me. That is like my wedding ring for work. Many others wear a silicone ring. I know many that work night shift wear theirs but, for me, dayshift was just too intense and hectic for me to worry about losing my wedding ring or the setting.

My theory for jewelry is this…… only wear what you’re willing to loose. Things happen fast, such as taking gloves off quickly or needing to wash your hands repeatedly. So keep the expensive and sentimental jewelry at home. It’s not worth losing it or ripping a glove.

I've gone so back & forth. My wife and I have a few rings each (just to switch out depending on the situation), and I've been wearing her plain jane silver band. It is sooooo much less in the way than my wedding rings. Even though my set is low profile, it gets caught on everything, including the lip of trash cans as I'm throwing away my gloves, nearly taking off my finger once. My silver band is much better than a rubber one for me too. Because it doesn't get caught in my hair or anything, and I can wash my hands without incidence. My beautiful ( 😞 ) rings just get in the way so much, making it even hard to wash my hands. I went through a few phases wanting to wear it (we've been married for 5 years now), but decided it's just easier and safer to wear something easy. Good luck!
