What is the best thing to do in between NCLEX and looking for a job? I have applied to over 30 places since I graduated in May and have gotten rejected from everything.. Trying to stay optimistic but struggling since I need to work in the meantime

30 isnt very many so you need to adjust your expectations right from the get go. This is old data so it might be different now but it used to be something like 99 out of 100 applications receive not interview offer. It took me about a month last time i switch hospitals to start receiving offers and I probably put in 200 applications, something like 10 a day several weeks. You might also need to consider where you are applying too. As a new grad your options are limited. If its not a new grad program , which are rare enough as it is, then you are likely to end up in med surg first. Try community hospitals especially. They are often more short staffed and desperate then bigger hospitals.

You should look for a new graduate program and don’t be afraid to travel for it. My first nursing job was a new graduate program in a Texas hospital and it was a great introduction to nursing. Some of the people in the program were still studying for the NCLEX. This was awhile ago, but I would think some of these programs still exist. Good luck!

Seek out CNA roles, see if your state allows you to be a CNA while you await NCLEX. Ideally look at employers where you can transition from allied health to nursing role.
