Whatever the base salary is plus your eight years of experience which will vary from state to state and facility to facility. Because very few skills learned in nursing school actually transfer to the OR, You basically have to start from scratch. Experience in other areas of nursing doesn’t usually translate to value in the OR sorry to say. I have enjoyed my time in surgery. As an OR nurse for 16 years, I would say that if you go that route, two books to have: AST manual and Alexander’s care of the patient in surgery.
