I am a 27 year RN with last 18 years being in the ER I am a travel nurse currently and I’m trying to transition to PACU but everybody wants experience. When I look at the qualifications I pretty much have it all. Suggestions?

Try an outpt. Surgery center where the cases are smaller and you get some PACU skills like post op teaching, airway management, and post op orders experience. Ventillator experience would be helpful too. Not all ER experience is in these importsmt areas. Retired OR RN here looking at posted jobs. Start small.

If you know any of the surgeons, talk to them. If they like you they can be a good reference

When I interviewed nurses for the PACU I wanted to be sure the nurse was able to manage an airway and a vent. Anesthesia MD/CRNA would intubate, but otherwise it was left to the PACU nurses.
