What are the considerations for wound care in patients with underlying comorbidities, such as diabetes or peripheral vascular disease?

February 4th, 2024

Honestly consideration’s depend on location of the wound, type or cause of the wound, patients compliance with wound care, compression, pressure relief, off loading, proper diet, managing glucose and adequate protein intake etc.

When it comes to wound care not all interventions work the same for each patient.

One consideration for all of my patients who do not have a protein limit would be to take ProStat AWC. It’s very beneficial in wound healing/wound maintenance. It is expensive but has worked very well for my patients who are compliant with the plan of care.
