I want to move to Portland. Are there a lot of opportunities for nurses in that area? I have 8 years experience as an RN in multiple fields, and want to move to the west coast.

Oregon is full of opportunities for nurses, not only in Portland but in several areas of the state. Southern Oregon, Central Oregon and "The Valley" (Eugene/Springfield area), are all great places to live,each with their own personalities and charms. Oregon pays pretty well, especially when you consider the cost of living.
You might try investigating the numerous open positions advertised online and apply for those that Interest you or that you qualify for. There are many companies that offer relocation assistance for the right person and with "virtual interviewing" becoming the norm, moving your practice to another state is so much easier and less expensive. I don't know where you live now but Oregon is a great place to live and work and we need all the good nurses we can get.
