I received an ICU offer for a VA hospital. Has anyone had experience working in a VA hospital, especially the ICU? What are the pros and cons?

I never worked VA, however, if you can get free training in a speciality take it. You can always go elsewhere later.

I've worked for VA for 9 years and 27 years in federal government. Most stable job you'll find. Easy to move around once you're in. Unionized. Good pay and excellent benefits. No better mission than caring for Veterans.

Are you a new grad? I currently work for a VA hospital. I am almost finished with the nurse residency program. I rotated to the ICU a few times and it was a great experience. Nothing compared to private sector, so I’ve heard. Most nurses seem to be content. Congratulations on the offer and all the best if you do decide to take the position! 😁
