I am recertifying for CPAN and need 90 CE hours . 45 must be direct care CE. How can you tell how each course is classified on this site.

"Direct care" CE's are basically clinically based education hours. They do not have to be PACU topics but do have to be clinically related. The "Indirect" CE's can be topics like leadership, and non-clinical professional development. You can count life support courses (ACLS/PALS/TNCC) hours one time during each 3 year certification cycle (you would have to double check what the limit on the hours is as this can change, it used to be 10). These hours would be considered "direct care" hours. A great way to get the CEUs is to attend the national conference or even the local conferences and/or read the journal articles and complete the tests (in JOPAN).
