I’m having a difficult time changing my nursing Specialty. How do you change specialties if they won’t hire you giving you the opportunity to gain experience?

If you are interested in other field you need to look for intern positions. I know that HCA healthcare has a wonderful program called StaRN where nurses have a chance to go into other fields of practice.

Just keep applying! Same thing happened to me and I finally got the interview from a hospital willing to take a chance and train me

Knowing someone in that specialty is VERY helpful. A friend can always put in a good word for you. If you don't know someone, applying to hospitals offering large amounts of money for bonuses can be another great lead. (Just FYI, if they are offering really big money, there's a reason they can't keep staff.) Sticking it out for 1 to 2 years is very attractive to other hospitals.

I am having the same experience. I have completed numerous courses and certs to change direction, but it comes back to no experience, then no opportunity.

Apply no matter what. Convince them you are capable of anything.
