Below are the primary continuing education requirements for nurses licensed in Oregon. Please visit the Oregon State Board of Nursing CE (continuing education) page for more information.
- One-time requirement to complete 7 hours of Pain Management CE in order to renew a license
- The Oregon Pain Management Commission requires that 1 of these hours be fulfilled with their Pain Management module
Completion of continuing education hours in one of the following ways:
(A) Maintaining active, unencumbered national certification for specialty role as required by applicable licensure and attest to completion of continuing education required for maintaining national certification; or
(B) 45 structured contact hours of continuing education completed in the two years prior to renewal of their license. At least 15 of the completed CE hours must be in pharmacotherapeutic content at the NP level congruent with their specialty role.
(d) Persons initially licensed on or after January 1, 2011 shall provide verification of current national Board certification in a role and population focus congruent with educational preparation and current Oregon nurse practitioner licensure.
(e) Verification of practice hours that meet the practice requirement in OAR 851-050-0004.
(f) Verification of utilization of prescriptive authority that meets the requirements specified in OAR 851-056-0014 unless already licensed as an Oregon nurse practitioner without prescriptive authority.
