The most common complaints would be abdominal pain and constipation in the infant and pediatric or school aged populations. It is important to rule out more acute causes for the abdominal pain such as appendicitis etc, ileus etc and often times it is caused by constipation. Constipation in the infant can be caused by recent change in diet (adding solids or even formula changes) and constipation in older or school aged children may also be diet related. These are two common themes I see over and over in a general pediatric office.
